‘Si Rose’ was inspired by Roman winemaking in which white wine was made with macerated grapes, along with the increasing temperature in Alsace, causing difficulties with slow ripening varieties.

20% macerated for 8 months, 80% macerated for 8 days, bottled in autumn 2020. Unfined, unfiltered, no added So2.

Returning to her family’s property in the hills between Soave and Veneto, Silvia Tezza revived the old vines that previously were only used to make wine for the family.

Hand harvested grapes are from a 2 hectare vineyard, with vines 65 years old, in calcareous, rocky soils surrounded by centuries old olive groves. Whole cluster maceration with spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts in stainless steel for 6 months. Secondary fermentation in the bottle with frozen Garganega must of the same vintage, 7 months on the lees ageing, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2.

Hazy orange colour, with subtle aromas of apricot, peach and saline minerality. Grapefruit, melon, orange peel and fresh acidity are buoyed by steady fizz.

A bitter nut hint highlights the airy, mineral finish.

Following in his footsteps, his daughter Nadia Cogno along with Valter Fissore are dedicated to the preservation of their unique terroir in Novello, next to Barolo and native grapes.

Vineyards are on the top of a hill at 350 meters in elevation, with limestone, clay and sandy soils. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, aged on the lees for 6 months.

Gold in colour, with aromas of lemon, rosemary, flinty minerality, smoky earth and beeswax.

Lemon, pignoli, campfire smoke, lemongrass are underlined with racy acidity.

Vines are in schist soils, grapes are destemmed, gently crushed, skins are removed after 36 hours. Aged in stainless steel vats that are partially buried in the earth.

Vines are on hillsides in clay soils over solid limestone. Foot pressed hand harvested grapes, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts without the skins in glass lined cement tanks. Unfined, unfiltered. [2018 was a hot year, resulting in wine not falling within the rules of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC. Rather than change the wine, the sisters used the more flexible Colli Aprutini IGT designation.]

Six childhood [and winemaking] friends banded together to save a small vineyard of native, old vines from being ripped up; the result of their efforts is Halarà

The vineyard is in in Contrada Abbadessa, the Marsala region of western Sicily, with 40 year old bush vines.

Two harvests, the first with whole cluster fermentation, the second harvest spent 24 hours macerating on the skins; both fermentations were with wild yeasts in stainless steel. Aged for 6 months on the fine lees in stainless steel, unfined and unfiltered, “with just a touch of SO2.”

Ruby red in colour, with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, warm summer earth.

Pomegranate, cherry, blood orange and a trace of iron earth minerality are glossed by fresh, balmy acidity.
