⭐️88/100⭐️ Weingut Edgar Brutler Saito, 2018 📍Beltiug, Transylvania, Rumania🇹🇩 🍇Field blend of many green varieties and a quick press of Blaufränkisch. ⚡️10,5% Tasted: April 2020 Weingut Edgar Brutler is a family winery in the village of Beltiug in the northern Transylvania. 
The winery was founded in 2018, and the family has been practicing viticulture for generations in this area, so they were set and ready from the start. Around the village they cultivate 4 hectares of vineyards, all exclusively organic. They aim for the biodynamic certification, but it takes them a few more years to earn it. They call their style “old-school-avantgarde”. The grapes are mainly from old vineyards and are transformed by old-school, traditional local methods into wine. In this case with use of amphora and old, big barrels. In this case, the wine most macerate for 6 days. Their first vintage - well done! This is an orange wine that lives up to its name… Pure orange peel with a foggy look.
The nose brings vibrant fruit and notes of fermentation. Fresh peach, tangerine, dried apricot, white tea, pear cider, kimchi and baked tomato. Everything you dream of…
Unfortunately, the palate is a little closed. A bit of orange and apricot, windfallen pear and white tea steeped too long.
But for sure, it’s showing super potential. I’ll give it a few more years, and it should be brilliant.
