1990 Château Pradeaux - Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Bandol Rouge (92 pts) @chateau .pradeaux ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Mourvèdre from estate vineyards in Bandol appellation of Provence, France. This Cuvée is now called Cuvée Longue Garde. The Mourvèdre comes from 45-year-old head-trained vines. The grapes are left whole cluster, crushed, and then undergo spontaneous yeast fermentation. The wine is aged for four years in foudres (large neutral oak vats). The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. 👁 Medium+ garnet color with a pale rim. 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of tree bark, leather, gamey, dried out cigar, dried black cherry, pomegranate, black raspberry, dried lavender, anise, white truffle, and earthy. 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ grippy tannins, medium+ alcohol (13%), and medium+ body. The palate is more savory than fruity. A medium+ length finish showing lavender, leather, and anise. 🔔 I don't often encounter Bandol wines with this amount of age on them. The nose shows development with a wide range of complex aromas. The palate has vibrant acidity and grippy tannins that are still flexing after 30 years. The wine still has a lot of structure and will hang here for some time, but it is now where the wine is very tertiary. Fun wine and a Top Producer in Bandol. #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #bandol #mourvedre #mourv vèdre #mataro #chateaupradeaux
