Christian Tschida is the experimental/low intervention sage of eastern Austria. He combines organic, ancient and biodynamic methods; foot stomping all grapes, fermentation occurs in tanks that sit outside in the shade, leftover must and juice is given back to the vines. Hand harvested grapes are from 40 year old vines overlooking Lake Neusiedl. Destemmed, crushed by foot, spontaneous fermentation in large barrels with indigenous yeast, no added SO2 Ruby red in colour, with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, red currant, wildflowers. Tangy acidity and light, black tea tannins frame cranberry, strawberry, pomegranate, rose petal stony minerality and a trace of licorice. Black currant, cranberry and rosemary integrate with the spice driven finish.
