2008 Dom Pérignon - Brut Champagne (92 pts) @domperignonofficial @moethennessy · 🙋‍♂️ Dom Pérignon all the right stuff or all marketing❓· ℹ️ This Champagne's blend is 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay. This wine is made in stainless steel with no oak exposure. The 2008 vintage was held longer in the cellar than normal and the 2009 vintage was released ahead of it. Some are saying this is vintage could be as good as DP 1990· 👁 Pale gold color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Initially a bit reduced, but that blew off with air. Aromas of red apple, floral, white flowers, cherry blossom, gunsmoke, lemon custard and pear· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. A very mineral flinty flavor on the medium+ length finish· 🔔 Just being released in the US market. This is powerful, structured, and still needs a lot of time. I think DP is actually a value in the grand scheme of Champagne with a proven track record of being able to improve over decades. Buy it, cellar it, forget about it, and open it up in 10 years. In the meantime the 2009 is ready to drink.
