2009 Hall - Exzellenz Sacrashe Vineyard (90 pts) #winereview - Deep ruby color with a noticeable watery rim. Nose has a pronounced intensity. Lots of baked black fruit (blackberry, bramble, black cherry), black currant leaf, and prune. Oak notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and cloves. A slight lavender more as well. Medium+ acidity, high ripe and fine grained tannins, high alcohol, and full body. Stewed black fruit all over the palate with blackberry, blueberry, and black plums. Oak is very aggressive on the palate providing a spice note like that of cloves, some strong espresso and dark chocolate notes as well. Finish is long and very primary. The texture is really creamy and rich. Overall this wine is brooding and hedonistic. It's lacking some balance, but it's clear no expense was spared in making this wine. This wine is extremely alcoholic (almost hot), but the fruit saves it. #california #napavalley #napa #cabernetsauvignon #rutherford #wineterroir #wine #winelover #winetasting #winegeek
