Rating: Strong Buy Bargain of the year (so far) 🍷  2015 Young Brute crafted by the Casella Family Wines.

This is currently $11.30 at Dan Murphy (No collaboration with Dan Murphy. Total independent review). This was going to be my bargain of the first half of the year anyway and that was at $15 (yes, I bought 6 at $15) but when I just checked the internet, Dan’s has a clearance special at $11.30. 😲🤑🤩

This is a big red and as the label says a ‘Young Brute’. It’s a brute with lots of flavour, loads of oak and a very rich/long finish. If you don’t believe me check the awards, which include

2 Gold Medals - 2016 Rutherglen Wine Show & 2016 Royal Melbourne Wine Show for Best Shiraz/ Cabernet Sauvignon Blend and Runner Up at the Jimmy Watson Trophy 2016.

Wines at $100 would be happy with this. Love it at $30 let alone $11. Absolute bargain...simple...

The best Pinot I have ever had under $20...yes I'm calling it.

Normally I only seem to like expensive Pinots and I usually feel a lot of them are overpriced for what they deliver. But this is $14, YES FOURTEEN DOLLARS.

So before I go on,  lets go back to the taste and forgetting the price for a moment.

Its dark, nice on the nose and has an expressive taste (but what does expressive mean? I don't know, but it was the best word I could think of. I want to say interesting but it a good way) Either way it is very easy to drink. Its very good start to a long night of tasting. Now if you asked me the price & what it was worth I would say $25.

So when I heard it was $14, I was shocked. I had to have another sip and another sip and keep on thinking s@

 I wasted a lot of money on average pinot's. Wow, $14. .

Is it the best Pinot your going to have? No, but its not trying to be and that is what I like about. This is a great midweek wine or a wine you take to the beach or a park, where your happy to be with friends. It's a wine you don't have to worry about. This is a very good, easy drinking pinot that's not ripping you off. Actually they could sell it for $20 and I'd still be happy. .

Not a paid review, a good friend of mine bought it and said, "they love it" I can understand why...simple...

Simple wine reviews are independent with no bs. All reviews are based on quality, taste and value for money. Wine should be simple and uncomplicated, but I’m always happy to learn or hear a great story about the wine. Bottom line is you like it or you don’t. Unless your a millionaire or getting it for free, the price means a lot and how good is it to get a truely great wine for $20 or or to taste a wine that is that good who cares about the price. How would I even contemplate rating this wine? 99 points from the wine review master. So, is it nearly perfect?

Look, I’m not going to say it’s not, it’s beautiful, delicious and has that character that only great wines have. I normally don’t rate wine that are sold out, unavailable or from my cellar. But this is a great wine.

To be honest I did I open it too early and it did deserve more time in the cellar, but after my car breaking down, I deserve this.

Founded in 1972, Bodegas LAN is named after the first letters of the three provinces in the DOC of Rioja: Logroño, Álava and Navarra. Sustainable viticulture practices are used with zero chemicals.

Fermented in stainless steel, aged for 24 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by 36 months in the bottle.

Transparent red violet in colour with engaging aromas of vanilla, crushed black peppercorn, baking spice, berry pie filling, roasted sage and toasted oak.

Vanilla and oak envelop black cherry, blackberry, plum and black pepper.

Good acidity and firm tannins compliment toasted oak, baked berries and cigar box spice on the lengthy, plush finish.

Big and bold, fantastic by the fire or with hearty winter dishes.
