Delicious. This is great. Not even in just rosé company, this is a great wine, full stop.

When it comes to rosé varieties, this is definitely on the drier side. If your not usually a fan of rosé (or find them too sweet), this is for you.

EB stands for experimental batch. Mac Forbes outline that EB wines are unique wines that have challenged them to push the boundaries in experience, comprehension of winemaking techniques and viticultural practices. Some trials never make it to bottle but those that do are deemed interesting and enjoyable enough to share.

What wines would buy for 14 days of quarantine?

No I don’t have Corona virus and 🙏 to anyone that does but I would love to know your thoughts on what wines you’d buy. Let’s be realistic, not many of us can all buy a few bottles of 1998 Chateau Margaux.

I’m thinking 14 days equals a nice round case (12) of wine is needed*

Recommendation: Strong Buy. An impressive length 🍷

Would have to be one of the simplest labels I’ve ever seen, but this wine is anything but simple. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to drink fresh snowy mountain water, the type that trickles down a creek and just minutes ago it was snow. It’s cold but so clean. You use your hands as a cup and the taste is just perfect. Thirst quenching. So clean it’s pure.

Well this is the wine version. Beautiful smell that starts with such a clean taste and a length that truely lasts longer than wines double its price. I never described a wine as clean but this is. Well done...simple... 🍷

 Wines by Farr Farr Rising Pinot Noir 2018 Geelong Rating:

A Pinot Noir is the latest release from Georgie Orbach wines. It may seem like I’m in love with this winery and that’s because I am. For $15, it is so good. A lot of people try to make a cheap Pinot and a lot just don’t deliver. This one does. So much in fact I’ve bought more. I also added some of the Cabernet Sauvignon that I reviewed last year. I think I’ve drunk more of Georgie’s wine than any other in the last 6 months. That should be recommendation enough...simple...

 Georgie Orbach 2018 Pinot Noir Rating: B+ Price: $15

Recommendation: Buy. As funky as the label.

Smooth with a difference that is delicious. The label outlines the taste before you even open it. Out there but a smooth gangsta feel.

Dark purple with an impressive flavour. This, in my opinion,  is different to most other Malbec’s on the shelf.

But the funky difference will split opinions, like graffiti art you’ll either love it or just walk past and not even notice...simple...

who outlines they only have a few bottles of

_du_venom left. But either way they have a great independent range of wines. I bought a 6 pack of mixed wines, all recommendations from them and so far I haven’t been disappointed. Cheers.

Recommendation: Buy. The bottle is only half the story

So I bought this wine solely for the bottle.

It’s a cool, unique looking wine bottle that is more suited to rum or whiskey.

The name ‘Kings Of Prohibition’ is formed the roaring twenties, prohibition and of course the bootleggers that covertly moved alcohol around the USA.

Quite fitting during times like this as some States move further into lockdown and curfews introduced into Victoria. You can really get a sense of how prohibition times must have felt.

After the first sip it becomes more about the wine than the bottle. This wine is very good. Actually I’m shocked how good it is.

Intense but smooth. Great flavour of berries, dark chocolate and an overall roundness that is very drinkable. This will not last forever in the cellar, nor it should. Drink it now...simple...

Happy International Cabernet Sauvignon Day

 Happy International Cabernet Sauvignon Day What are you

Soft, even cuddly but there is a tiny bit of spice at the end that creates a good length. A bit more character.

This is a Yarra Valley Shiraz with that softer feel but I taste a tiny bit of a kick. A great little crossover. I do like it. A lot of wineries in cooler climates are using the term Syrah but I understand why this is a Shiraz. I don’t know if that was planned or just coincidence.

To put in perspective and compare it best, I would describe it as 80% Yarra with 20% of a Barossa kick yet still maintaining a mellow feel.

Definitely a new name on my radar. Well done Mandala Wines...simple...

 Mandala Wines Yarra Valley Shiraz 2018 Rating: B+ Price:

Established by David Powell in 1994 and deeply influenced by his time in Scotland: Torbreck is the name of the forest where David used to work as a lumberjack, and many of the wines share the same kind of tribute.

Today, the winery stands out as one of the best reputed of Australia, combining the fruit and spice from AUS with the elegance of Rhône.

“The Struie” is named after a hill near to the Glenmorangie Distillery in Scotland. The wine combines the best from the warm valley floor in Barossa and from the high-altitude vineyards located in Eden Valley, which helps the grapes maintaining their freshness due to the milder micro climate.

Only old vines, +50 years (Eden V.) and +80 years (Barossa floor) are used, followed by 20 months in French barrique (15% new).

The bouquet is concentrated and powerful offering notes of blackcurrant compote, baked berry crumble, dark plum, smoky bacon chunks, charcoal, espresso, sweet tobacco, dried herbs, pepper and a sick scent of umami (a bit hoisin/teriyaki-like).

The palate is rich, almost creamy, without being jammy and super intense with flavors of blackcurrant, black pepper, brown sugar, spicy vanilla, cola, burnt brownie and a very long and complex finish of smoky whisky and menthol.

The tannins are present but soft, and the acidity remarkably vibrant.

Just wow! Complex and calling for an Aussie barbecue...
