The wine was a bit past prime, but it still showed some fruit but mostly dried, mellow tannins, and firm acidity. 1973 Bertani - Recioto della Valpolicella Amarone Classico Superiore 🍷 This wine was the most divisive wine of the flight, with some tasters thinking it was flawed. While I believe it to be corked, there was a ton of volatile acidity and some funk on the nose. Pretty high octane as well on the palate. 1997 Marchesi Antinori - Tignanello 🍷 Hands down, the star of the flight. Everyone admitted that the wine was drinking beautifully at the moment. Some tasters commented that this is a wine people "love to hate" because it comes from the extensive wine producing Antinori family, but it is hard not to give wines like Tignanello their due when you taste them.
