Avani ‘The Earth’ Syrah 2017, Mornington Peninsula. A deft, precise, and beautifully crafted expression of Syrah (Shiraz) that sits at the top of the quality index for wines from the region. The nose is a harmonious combination of dark berry fruits, fine spice, and rose petals with a grilled meat, charry density. The harmony of flavour accelerates on the palate in the most delicious medium bodied package. Dark berries, dried figs, violets, cedar, fine spice and vanilla wrapped in graphite tannin and expertly executed oak. Quite the wine and at 12.1% it’s even more enjoyable. This is a wine I’d put in my cellar, no questions asked 👏🏼🍷🙏🏼
