Some wines arrive and go straight on the shelf, others are

Some wines arrive and go straight on the shelf, others are feverishly opened ASAP 🤣 this is a wine of the latter type. Bacchus Family Wine 2019 (release late May). So what’s it like? The short answer is bloody good. It’s a wine that oozes quality, with perhaps a freckle more elegance than last years release, and more elegance is nothing to be quibbled with. The nose evokes scents of small dark berries, dark cherries and cassis with such purity, dried herbs and dusty earth notes sit deep and mingle with fine spice. On the palate it’s elegant and graceful, polished even, with a core of blackcurrant and dark plum that drift into earthy gum, bay and tobacco leaf, whilst vanilla notes make an appearance amongst the fine and grippy tannins and lingering finish. What a way to backup a vintage like 2018! I’ll be adding some to the cellar for sure 👏🏼🍷🙏🏼
