1996 Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot - Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru @louisjadot ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Chardonnay from the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru appellation in Côte de Beaune, Burgundy. This vineyard is one of the oldest owned by Louis Jadot since the 19th century. It is located in the heart of the appellation (next to the Corton Pougets), which then expanded after 1966. Initially, it was the only place to be allowed to bear the Corton-Charlemagne appellation. 👁 Medium gold color 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Initially, the nose had a slight chemical note of wet paint that later morphed to a citrus cleaner, but more on that below. Aromas of preserved lemon, baked quince, candied orange peel, smoke, toasted hazelnuts, and salted sunflower seeds. 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), and full body. No chemical taste on the palate. Great texture with a long length finish of preserved lemon, orange peel, and toasted hazelnuts. 🔔 This was not a perfect bottle and therefore will not be scored, but it was enjoyed with air. The chemical note is like acetaldehyde aromas, either from winemaking or natural oxidation during aging. It was not premature oxidation due to the color being suitable for the age and missing those butterscotch or stewed fruit aromas. It was not TCA. I find myself with a low TCA threshold. What vexed me the most was this aroma seemed to improve with oxygen but was still lingering in the background. This experience will not stop me from exploring the Domaine wines of Louis Jadot, which I believe are still great values. #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #louisjadot #cortoncharlemagne #grandcru #burgundy #burgundywine
