2017 Antica Terra - Aequorin Chardonnay (94 pts) @antica _terra ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon. Maggie Harrison makes very compelling wines in Oregon. While the trend is to make single appellation or single-vineyard wines, but instead, she uses each vineyard and plot as a color in her palate to create the painting of her wines. The Aequorin Chardonnay is when something beautiful and singular stands out so brightly that it demands to be bottled on its own. 👁 Medium+ lemon color. 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of yellow apple, baked quince, white peach, grapefruit pith, lemon zest, oak, star anise, sunflower seeds, and sage. 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol (13%), and medium+ body. The fruit and oak flavors are more assertive on the palate versus the nose. Great texture. A medium+ length finish of orchard fruit and citrus with subtle oak spices and sage flavors lingering on. 🔔 Maggie Harrison is a master blender, and I find her thought process so intriguing. Her wines make you think, and that is part of their appeal. The Aequorin Chardonnay is one that it is hard to categorize, which I think she would appreciate. It is a bit shy on the nose and more giving on the palate. There is an attractive textural component that is quite charming. The best way to describe it would be like licking a wool sweater. This wine should continue to improve with age. At only 251 cases produced, it can be hard to find. 💰 ~$135 #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #oregonwine #willamettevalley #chardonnay #anticaterra #wvwines
