Always one of my faves, from visionary winemaker Walter Massa. A real hero of Colli Tortonesi, he is known as the “Maestro of Timorasso” after rescuing the native grape from near extinction in the early 1980’s. Grapes are from the younger vineyards, with chalky soils with clay and marl. Fermented with wild yeasts in stainless steel, aged in stainless steel. Light gold in colour, with aromas of lemon, white flowers, petrol, and dusty minerality. Lemon, pineapple, green apple, herbs and apricot are glossed by citrus acidity. Pink grapefruit and a nutty streak linger on the flinty mineral finish.
