2019 Bodega Colomé - Estate Torrontés @bodegacolome · ℹ️ This wine is 💯 estate grown Torrontés from Calchaquí Valley in Salta, Argentina. Torrontés is Argentina's native white grape that is a natural crossing of Mission and Muscat of Alexandria in Argentina. There are three distinct clones, but Torrontés Riojano is used for most quality wines. Bodega Colomé grows the grape at their La Brava estate vineyard at 1700 to 2300 meters. Whole cluster pressed, minimal skin contact, no MLF, and a cold fermentation at 12 C to preserve freshness· 👁 Medium- lemon color· 👃 Pronounced intensity on the nose. Aromas of grapefruit pith, ripe peach, pear, gooseberry, watermelon rind, orange blossom, juniper, geranium, and lychee· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), and medium+ body. Slight phenolic bitterness on the finish. The medium length finish of peach skin, lemon zest, and bitter almond· 🔔 Bodega Colomé makes the benchmark Torrontés for anyone studying for wine exams. This wine is utterly exotic on the nose, and you think you might get something sweet on the palate. Then you are smacked in the face with the telltale acidity that the high altitude vineyards of Salta endow in these grapes. The palate is more citrus and watermelon rind than floral. The finish is slightly bitter and craves food. The Winemaker suggested ceviche to pair with this wine, which sounds divine. Perfect summer sipping wine that is interesting and affordable· 💰~$13 #vin #lovewine #🍷 #wineterroir #wine #salta #torrontes #torronte és #bodegacolome #wineofargentina
