2010 Château Malescot St-Exupéry - Margaux (93 pts) @chateaumalescot @klwines · 🙋‍♂️ What is your favorite wine from Margaux❓· ℹ️ This wine was tasted single blind with a theme intended to identify specific communes of left bank Bordeaux wines. Château Malescot St-Exupéry is classified as a 3rd Growth in Margaux. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the remainder split between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot· 👁 Deep ruby color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of wet rock, pencil shavings, blackberry, black currant, herbal, tomato leaf, oak, cedar, sawdust, and VA· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, high grippy tannins, medium+ alcohol, and full body. A medium+ length finish of blackberry and pencil shavings· 🧠 Pencil Shavings is a common aroma that I pick up in Pauillac and for better or worse that is driving me to this commune. There is clearly a few years on this wine so guessing 2012, it is high acid and tannin, but not overtly ripe. A lot of new oak (70%+), but good concentration to stand up to it. This feels like a growth, but not 1st growth. Around $120 in price. Assuming 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Final Guess 2012 Pauillac growth (but not 1st)· 🔔 This is not a Château that I drink very often and that is a mistake on my part. This is a 2010 Margaux that is showing beautifully and at $100 this is absolutely stunning for the money. I couldn't find a lot of info about the wine, but clearly I was off on commune and Cabernet Sauvignon ratio. That being said I feel really good with the quality and price call. Definitely a Marguax to try· 😎 In Blind, We Trust
