6/12/2021, 8:34:47 AM 2016 Sleight of Hand Cellars - Levitation Syrah (90 pts) @sofhcellars · ℹ️ This wine is 💯 Syrah from 3 estate vineyards in Washington state. 85% of the grapes are from the Lewis Vineyard in Yakima Valley AVA. 10% from Les Collines Vineyard and 5% from the Ziggy Stardust Block of Elevation Vineyard both of which are in the Walla Walla AVA. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels with 30% new French oak. 10% of the blend is whole cluster· 👁 Deep ruby color· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe black cherry, raspberry, black plum, pine tree, nettle, violets, oak, clove, and cinnamon· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ ripe tannins, high alcohol, and medium+ body.. A medium+ length finish of dark chocolate and dark cherry· 🔔 The finish is the real highlight of this wine. Think dark chocolate covered black cherries. Missing some of the peppery notes on the nose, but some interesting herbal and floral notes. A very lifted nose, maybe a touch of good VA? The fruit it ripe this is a warm climate Syrah to the core, but maintains good acidity. The 15.1% ABV is a bit heady on the nose, but not as noticeable on the palate. A lot of people will love it even if the label is very polarizing based on the previous 2 posts.
