1989 Camille Loye - Cuvée Saint Paul Arbois (86 pts)· 🙋♂️
3/1/2021, 7:12:41 AM 1989 Camille Loye - Cuvée Saint Paul Arbois (86 pts)· 🙋♂️ Thoughts on the Jura wine tasting series❓· ℹ️ This wine is mostly Trousseau if not 💯, hard to find 30 year old tech sheets🤷♂️. Camille Loye no longer produces wine, but was a classic producer in Arbois, France. This was pulled from my personal cellar. It was purchased from auction many years ago and I thought it would be fun to blind a few friends on it· 👁 Pale Tawny color (low glass fill in photo)· 👃 Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of dried cherry, dried apricot, prune, tobacco, butterscotch candy, dried mushroom, cedar, and dried leaves· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, low resolved Tannins, medium alcohol, and light body. A medium- finish of dried fruit and dried leaves· 🔔 I served this wine blind for one of my tasting groups. Most of them guessed Burgundy 70s to early 80s. One person thought it was a really old Barolo. All valid guesses. At this age these wines can be hard to distinguish unless they are top producers and with pristine provenance. While this wine was over the hill, it was still enjoyable to drink. I have tasted the 1988, 89, and 90. The 1988 is probably my favorite.
