1967 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli - Riserva (96 pts) @borgogno1761 · 🙋‍♂️ What is your "Special Bottle" that you only want to share with your wine friends❓· ℹ️ Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is considered a historic producer and prides itself as being a cgampion of the traditional style of Barolo. The wine is 💯 Nebbiolo. Sourced from these Barolo Vineyards: Liste, Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Fossati, and San Pietro delle Viole. The vineyards all have a south or southeast exposure and the soils are Calcareous and Clay Marl. 1967 is considered a great vintage in Barolo· 👁 Pale garnet core with a watery rim. Bad photo due to low amount of wine in glass as I was too busy enjoying the wine· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of mushroom, truffles, dried red cherry, dried cranberry, dried flowers, smoked meat, sanguine, and earthy· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, low resolved tannins, medium alcohol, and medium- body. Long length finish of truffle , prosciutto, and dried flowers· 🔔 We opened 2 bottles of this for our annual wine tasting group holiday dinner. I was scared due to how the last bottle showed (87 pts) a few months ago. Both bottles were in excellent condition with 1 showing a tad better. These wines were light, elegant, and full of complexity. Savory and Floral at the same time. This was hands down the wine of the night and I was super happy to share this with this group. I wouldn't sit on these wines much longer. At this age each bottle is unique.
