NV Jacquesson - Cuvée 740 Extra Brut Champagne (92 pts) @vintage59imports · 🙋‍♂️ Do you want your Non-Vintage Champagne to taste the same every year❓· ℹ️ Jacquesson is one of the smallest houses in Champagne. They own 28 ha worth of vineyards and 78% of their grapes are grown there, which is high for a house. Jacquesson made major change to focus on the Brut NV (non-vintage) 700 series and only single vineyard vintage wines. The 700 series started in 2000 with Cuvée 728. 57% Chardonnay, 22% Meunier, and 21% Pinot Noir. The base is from 2012 (80%) with the reserves (20%) from prior 700 series. Primary fermentation in oak foudré with Malolactic Fermentation. Dosage is 1.5 g/l· 👁 Medium gold color. Persistent fine bubbles· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of marzipan, white chocolate, green apple, bruised apple, nectarine, lemon curd, baked bread, and buttery· 👄 The wine is dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, and medium round body. A creaminess to the texture. A long finish of chocolate croissant and sea salt· 🔔 I have been a long time fan of the 700 series. In the age of grower champagnes, it is great to see a house adapt to the trends of the consumers. They have reduced the number of bottlings made (400K+ to 280K per year). They have focused in on a highly vintage driven Brut NV in the 700 series as their flagship. They only release special single vineyard bottlings that showcase their Terroir. Every year the 700 series tastes different and I like that and there is still a fingerprint of the Chiquet brothers. This is one of my 🔝3 NV Brut Champagnes🍾😍
