9/3/2021, 8:36:29 PM 2014 Longhouse Wines - Red Blend Sierra Foothills (80 pts) @longhousewines · 🙋♂️ What are your thoughts on Volatile Acidity❓Some like it, Some don't· ℹ️ Let me lead with my opinion on VA. If the fruit concentration is there, then it can lift and add to the Aromatic profile. If it's not then it comes off like a winemaker fault. My score is based on the nose that was hard to look past. For reference 80 points for me is the precipice of whether or not it is serviceable. 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon· 👁 Medium ruby color· 👃 Medium- intensity on the nose. The VA jumps out at me with aromas of nail polish remover. This is exacerbated by the high alcohol. Behind that there is some red cherry and red plum, but I am digging to find them· 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium+ plush tannins, high alcohol, and medium body. The palate shows better than the nose. Cherry pie, baked plum, raspberry jam and a touch of violets. The finish is short· 🔔 This was sent to me as a sample to review. I will open the 2nd bottle to verify and will replace this review if my notes are different. This wine retails for $15.
