2017 Flâneur Wines - La Belle Promenade Pinot Meunier (90 pts) #winereview @flaneurwines · ❓Have you ever tried a 💯 Pinot Meunier wine❓· ℹ️ Flâneur Wines is based in Carlton, Oregon. Pinot Meunier is one of the big 3 grape varieties in Champagne, where it is an unsung workhorse. Flâneur Wines decided to make a single vineyard still wine out the Pinot Meunier from a high quality bumper crop vintage. Chehalem Mountains AVA, volcanic soils, dry farmed, hand harvested. These were put into vat whole cluster in the vineyard, then sealed for 20 days. Only native yeasts and no sulphur. Then pressed and aged in neutral French oak barrels for 4 months· 👁 Medium- ruby color· 👃Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of fresh ripe raspberry, pomegranate, red candy (jolly rancher), rose, and lavender· 👄 The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium- soft fuzzy tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body. High end 'fancy' candy, ripe crunchy raspberry, cherry, wet rock, rose, and lavender. The finish is medium+ length· 🔔 I am not sure if this was just an experiment due to the bumper crop vintage of 2017, but they should keep this in their lineup. Blind this is a dead ringer for high end Fleurie. Very elegant and probably the best new world Carbonic Maceration wine that I have tasted. The problem is only 50 cases were made ☹️. To sum it up this wine is Geeky 🤓 and Yummy 😋 at the same time· ⚠️ This wine was provided by Flâneur Wines no strings attached· #oregon #willamettevalley #willamette #flaneur #pinotmeunier #labelle #chehalemmountains #oregonwine #redwine
