2012 Ultramarine - Blanc de Noirs Heintz Vineyard Sonoma

2012 Ultramarine - Blanc de Noirs Heintz Vineyard Sonoma Coast (87 pts) #winereview - Tasted blind in a flight of traditional method sparkling wines. In blind we trust! Pronounced intensity on the nose. Aromas of petrol, rubber, lemon custard, lemon zest, melon, and yeast. The wine is dry, bubbles were a bit soft and a detractor, medium alcohol, medium acidity, and medium+ body. Palate was similar to the nose and tasting this blind I would have swore this was a cava. In retrospect, I have had this before and remember sulfur notes were fairly pervasive. Maybe this is a Heintz Vineyard signature. Needless to say, I prefer their Blanc de Blancs and still think fondly on the rosé they had made previously which was super vinous. This may just need time, but who knows.
