1991 Bodegas Riojanas - Viña Albina Reserva (91 pts) @bodegasriojanas · 🙋♂️ What was the last wine from Rioja that you tasted❓Let me know in the comments 👇👇👇· ℹ️ This wine is from Rioja, Spain. A typical blend for this wine is 80% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 5% Graciano. The grapes come from the vineyards of Cenicero, Sonsierra, and Villalba de Rioja. Aged for 24 to 30 months in American oak casks and then aged an additional 12 months in bottle before being released· 👁 Medium garnet color and pale rim· 👃 Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of fruit leather, tobacco, leather, tree bark, pine tree, dried cherry, dried currant, earthy, tarragon, and pu er tea· 👄 The wine is dry, medium acidity, medium- resolved and fine-grained tannins, medium- alcohol (12%), and medium body. The finish is medium+ length with flavors of dried red fruit, tobacco, and pu er tea· 🔔 This wine is still very much alive and kicking. A great mix of tertiary dried fruit aromas and American oak aging with tarragon and pine notes. The leathery and pu er tea finish lingers on. The vibrant acidity gives this aging beauty structure as the tannins have slowly faded away. On par with my previous review of this wine over a year ago. Punching above its weight class as most quality aged Rioja wines do.
